I forgot we're both so different that I completely overlooked his viewpoint. In terms of background, upbringing and social circle.

I guess in a way, he wants me to be an educated person. With diploma and degree, like I would have gotten if I didn't fuck it up with my loser ex bf. In a way, I guess he too didn't wanna be a typical malay family living day by day with no motivation or goals. In a way, I guess this is just a safety net. That at least I have certs to prove that I have done something useful. Something my dad will be proud. Something arwah nenek will be proud too...
